Recipe for a good filter
In this article, we’ll show you how to brew great coffee at home using a V60 kit :)
Step 1: Prepare the equipment
Before starting, make sure you have all the equipment within reach. Place the V60 cone on a cup or carafe and insert a paper filter. Rinse the filter with some hot water to remove the paper taste and preheat the cone. Discard the rinse water.
Step 2: weight and grind the coffee
Weigh 15 grams of ground coffee. Make sure the coffee is not ground too finely, ideally with a grind similar to that of sugar. This will allow for optimal extraction without clogging the filter.
Step 4: Add the coffee
Pourtray the ground coffee into the filter. Make sure it is evenly distributed for uniform extraction.
Step 6: Enjoy
Once the water has completely passed through the coffee, remove the V60 cone and discard the filter with the coffee grounds. Your coffee is now ready to be enjoyed!
Step 3: Heat the water
Heat 250 grams of water to 94°C. If you don’t have a thermometer, bring the water to a boil, then let it sit for about 30 seconds to reach the right temperature.
Step 5: Brewing
Start the brew by slowly pouring a little hot water over the ground coffee, just enough to wet the coffee (about 30-40 grams of water). This allows the coffee to "bloom" and release gases. Wait about 30 seconds.
Next, pour the remaining water in circular motions, starting from the center and moving outward. Try to pour the water so that it is evenly distributed over the coffee. The entire brewing process should take about 2 to 3 minutes.
What you need :
- Ground coffee: 15 g (not too finely ground)
- Water : 250 g
- Water temperature : 94°C
- Water : Use bottled Spa water or filtered water for optimal brewing
- V60 : A paper filter and a V60 dripper
- Scale: to weigh the coffee and the water
- Kettle: preferably with a spout for better control
Step 7: Adjust according to your taste
Feel free to adjust the amounts of coffee and water according to your preferences. If you like a stronger coffee, increase the amount of coffee; if you prefer a lighter taste, reduce it.
